Displacement Activities

 Displacement activities - a poem by C.Knight

Should I mark? Or plan my week?

I'm challenged by my stubborn streak. I do not wish to spend this time

on school work so I penned this rhyme.

I could be writing schemes of work. Instead I chose to take the perk

Of sitting in the sun with gin

And stalling when I should begin.

I've tidied up and cooked the tea

And sorted all my jewellery.

I've moved the sofa, painted walls,

made pastry, picked up stray windfalls

To make a crumble or a pie

Which all have helped the hours pass by.

But sat with scorn upon my chair, with loud reproach I cannot bear

Are 40 unmarked books or more

And still I do not start this chore......

I wonder if I've mopped the floor?!?
